Stave Shells

Stave drums are built from solid blocks of wood, similar to the construction of a wooden barrel.

Because the shell is made from solid wood with minimal glue, the drum retains the natural resonance and character of the wood.

The vertical grain structure also creates strong bearing edges and a highly responsive shell.

Typical shell thickness ranges from 6.5 mm to 12 mm, allowing the drum to be tailored from open and resonant to focused and powerful.
